Prof. Dr. Yuqing Jiao

Yuqing Jiao earned his Bachelor of Engineering from Zhejiang University, China, in 2008. At the same time, he received a Bachelor’s degree with honors from the Chu-Kochen Honors College, Zhejiang University. Recognized for his academic excellence, he was awarded the Philips Brainbridge Fellowship and admitted to a joint PhD program between Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands and Zhejiang University. Dr. Jiao completed this program in 2013, earning dual PhD degrees from both universities.

Dr. Jiao’s PhD research focused on integrated light sources for optical coherence tomography. In 2016, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Institute of Photonic Integration (IPI) at TU/e and focused his research on integrated nanophotonics in a membrane structure. The scientist’s significant contributions led to his promotion to Associate Professor in 2023. He currently leads a research team on heterogeneous photonic integration technologies, concentrated on III-V and III-N integration on Si/SiN circuits. His team also explores new technologies and materials for emerging photonic applications.

Yuqing Jiao has co-authored over 70 journal articles and 150 conference papers and holds four patents. His expertise is widely recognized, and he has delivered invited talks at leading conferences, including OFC, CLEO, and Photonics West.
